  18th Annual Community Clean Up Day!

  Saturday, May 2nd
  ⏰ 8 AM – Noon
  Corner of Alder and Fourth Ave (Closing part of the street next to CVS to accommodate drive-through event!)

  We’re calling for volunteers and inviting the public to take advantage of this helpful community service! Swing by our drive-through clean-up event to responsibly dispose of unwanted items and recycling while helping keep Ferndale looking its best. Here’s what to expect:

  ✅ Whatcom County Health & Community Services will be on hand to help answer questions about where to dispose of items we can’t accept.
  ✅ Bring your unwanted electronics—including TVs, printers, and more! – see full list of accepted items here: www.1pc.com/electronics-recycling
  ✅ Ferndale Free Pile is back! Drop off items that still have life left, browse for treasures, or do both!
  ✅ Yard Waste? No problem! Pick up a free yard waste dump voucher and take it to RDS for easy disposal.

  What We Can’t Accept: Refrigerators, A.C. units, tires, chemicals, oil, household garbage, or regular curbside recycling.

  Want to get involved? We’re looking for volunteers, sponsors, donations, and refreshments for our hardworking crew! We also have a special project opportunity this year. We’re hoping to match a volunteer group with a local downtown business to help tackle some outdoor building maintenance—those small but important projects that help keep downtown looking sharp and welcoming but can be hard to get to when you’re busy running a business.

  If your group would be interested in taking on a special project, please reach out and we’ll work on matching you with a business that would truly appreciate the extra hands to knock out a few of those to-do list items.

  No registration is required to utilize the free services or to come help with litter pickup, sidewalk sweeping, and general sprucing up. However, if your group would like to take on a special project, we’d love to connect ahead of time so we can coordinate the work with the business owner.

  Ferndale of a Sale Day
  A town-wide treasure hunt with a downtown twist!

  Ferndale’s beloved Community Garage Sale Day is getting an upgrade this year and becoming Ferndale of a Sale Day — a day full of bargains, treasures, and local shopping all around town.

  Start your morning at the group yard sale and vendor area at the corner of Fourth St. and Alder St. Browse booths that range from yard sales to local vendors and crafters, and while you're there you can pick up a printed map (or use the online interactive map) to guide your treasure hunt.

  Once you’ve mapped out your route, head out into the neighborhoods to hunt for hidden treasures and great bargains at the many yard sales happening around town.

  After you’ve worked up an appetite bargain hunting, swing downtown to treat yourself to a discounted lunch and explore local shops offering special sales and deals just for the day.

  Whether you're searching for hidden gems, supporting local makers, or just enjoying a day out in the community, you’re bound to find a heck of a deal in the Dale!

  Time: 8:00 AM – 3:00 PM (times may vary depending on the seller)

  Register your address to be included on the official event map for just $5.

  Vendor or Crafter?
  Join the group yard sale area at 2084 Alder St. (next to Rockwood Realty and Ferndale Mini Mart).

  • 10 x 10 outdoor space: $25 - $35

  • Limited spots available

  • You may reserve multiple spaces if you have lots to sell!

  Local Businesses
  Businesses are encouraged to join the fun by offering a special sale, discount, or promotion during Ferndale of a Sale Day. The choice is yours on what to offer! Your offer doesn’t necessarily have to be redeemed that day — Maybe you will choose to offer something like a dollar or percentage off that customers can use later. Ideally, the opportunity to get the deal is only available on Dale Sale Day, giving shoppers a reason to come explore Ferndale and visit your business. Tell us about your deal or discount and we'll add it to the what we are promoting! 

  How Shoppers Find You

  • Printed address lists will be available on event day

  • Interactive online map available for easy navigation

  Paper copies will be available at the group yard sale location (2084 Alder St.).       A Link to the map will be available as we get closer to the event.

  Supporting Downtown Ferndale

  All proceeds from group space rentals and garage sale map registrations go toward supporting the Ferndale Downtown Association, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization working to strengthen and revitalize our downtown.
